WHY NOW?

We believe the future belongs to those who can command attention. In a world driven by content, storytelling is no longer optional. From business and entrepreneurship to media, technology, and leadership, the ability to communicate visually and tell compelling stories is one of the most valuable skills of this generation.

We equip students with the creative, strategic, and business understanding needed to thrive in an attention-driven world.

OUR "WHY"

Filmmaking in high school changed our lives.

For Lauren, it led to over 80 festival screenings before the age of 18, opened doors to college, and built the foundation of her career. For Joseph, early action filmmaking with go-pro and extreme sport evolved into expedition documentary directing.

We were fortunate to have mentors who believed in our creativity. But as the industry has rapidly evolved, from traditional film paths to digital creators, streaming platforms, and independent funding, much of the real-world roadmap had to be figured out along the way.

Film Prodigy Academy exists to give the next generation what we wish we had: modern, practical guidance that combines creative craft, business understanding, and long-term sustainability.

How the 12-Week Cohort Works

Over 12 weeks, we work closely with a curated group of aspiring filmmakers to help each student narrow in on their passion and build a personalized roadmap for tangible creative growth.

01

Weekly Group Mentorship

Each week, Lauren and Joseph guide the cohort through the full creative process — from idea to execution.

Students move through stages including:

• Developing a concept rooted in timeless storytelling principles
• Building shot lists and visual language
• Understanding production logistics
• Learning foundational budgeting
• Strengthening problem-solving skills used in real-world filmmaking

The goal: each student creates a portfolio-ready project — whether that’s a short film, music video, documentary piece, or short-form series.

Occasional guest filmmakers join the cohort to offer perspective on different sectors of the industry.

02

 Private Coaching Sessions

In 1:1 sessions, we focus on each student’s unique challenges and creative roadblocks.

These sessions provide:

• Personalized feedback
• Project refinement
• Strategic guidance
• Accountability and momentum

03

Studio Experience

Midway through the cohort, students participate in an in-person studio day, where they experience a professional production environment and apply what they’ve learned to their projects.

04

The Finish Line

By the end of 12 weeks, each student is guided to complete and refine their chosen project.

The outcome is a tangible piece of work for their portfolio, along with a clearer understanding of their creative direction and next steps.

05

Students leave with:

• A completed creative project
• A stronger portfolio
• A practical understanding of how the industry functions
