Over the course of several weeks, students are guided through the full filmmaking process, learning how to:

  • Develop a story idea

  • Plan a creative project

  • Conduct interviews or direct scenes

  • Capture video and audio

  • Edit their footage

  • Complete a short film they can share with family, friends, or future programs

Students leave with a completed creative project and a deeper understanding of how to bring an idea to life through film.

MEET YOUR MENTOR

Lauren Lindberg is an award-winning documentary filmmaker with over 15 years of experience in film and television production.

As a young filmmaker, Lauren’s early films premiered in over 80 film festivals worldwide before she entered college. Her work was featured on PBS Independent Voices and Women in Film, and she received a Jefferson Award for her contributions to storytelling at a young age.

Today, Lauren directs and produces documentary films and branded content, and is currently leading the feature-length documentary Fall of the Phoenix.

This mentorship program is inspired by the private creative guidance Lauren received as a student — opportunities that helped her build a film portfolio before college and ultimately launch her career in filmmaking.
